In 1915, Great Britain and her Empire found itself engaged at Gallipoli and on the Western Front. Lacking the wherewithal to conduct both campaigns effectively, the year was one of theatre-wide learning and experiential exchange that continued to the armistice. Primarily based on a series of papers delivered at the joint Gallipoli Association and Western Front Association’s ‘Gallipoli and the Western Front Centenary Conference’ (25-27 September 2015), this compendium volume contains original essays by such notable First World War historians as Mark Connolly, Christopher Pugsley, Gary Sheffield, Peter Doyle, Peter Hart, Clive Harris and Stephen Chambers.

The various topics include command and control, military technology, logistics and British and Dominion forces including the RND and the Irish soldier at war. For anyone interested in learning more about Gallipoli and the Western Front in 1915, then this is the book for you. Whilst there are some great chapters I have to say the editing and proof reading has let it down somewhat. Nevertheless, its still a must-have volume for those who attended the conference as it is for those who could not.
